Henry Ford’s first Model-T was apparently built to run on hemp gasoline and the car itself was constructed from hemp. Ford was photographed among his hemp fields many times, and the he car, ‘grown from the soil,’ had hemp plastic panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than steel. To think that even one of the founders of a major car manufacturer was trying to give the world a vehicle that was safe, strong and clean for the environment.
For those of you who don’t know, Hemp, or industrial hemp typically found in the northern hemisphere, is a strain of the Cannabissativa plant.
The oldest known records of hemp farming go back 5000 years in China. For thousands of years, 90% of all ships sails and rope made from hemp. Hemp is an unlimited, forever lasting resource. For that reason alone it is a threat to our current financial and economic systems. It seems the systems we have in place are used to justify why products like this cannot be mass marketed and mass distributed. It’s time for a change, and it’s time for us to implement new methods and technologies that are more harmonious with the planet.
